Materials: For each team:  50 Gum Drops 100 Toothpicks For the class: $3.00 in pennies Paper Plates Rulers Procedure: Working as a team, how can you use 50 gumdrops and 100 toothpicks to span a 6-inch “gorge”? You need to build a bridge that can hold 120 penny “cars” (300 grams). Static Electricity

Snake Charmer Static Experiment Materials: tissue paper plastic ruler scissors something made of wool Procedure: 1. Using a piece of tissue paper, draw a spiral inside. 2. Cut out the snake following the line you drew.  If you like, draw on a face and some wiggly lines with a felt tip pen. 4. Rub the plastic ruler vigorously with the wool, then hover the ruler over the snake’s head. 5. The snake will begin to rise off the table!
